The LikeMinds supported event on Socia Media Recruitment "Where's the talent?"

How social networks and tools have transformed the hiring process and people management.

The mass of motivated hopefuls out there using Twitter, LinkedIn, Facebook and a host of less ubiquitous platforms to promote themselves and connect with potential employers don't feel the need to label what they're doing as social media recruitment. They simply know that it works. And managers are recognising that the traditional recruitment agency model is broken and the quality and cost-effectiveness of the hires they make through social sources is much better for business. So can they catch up with the best talent and make the most of how people present themselves online? And is there also a flip side to social recruiting that means users are scared of expressing themselves in a truly personal way just in case a prospective employer might find out, and what about the prospect of your boss constantly looking over your social online profile shoulder? In this event we will look at the rise of social recruitment and the opportunities it gives job seekers and recruiters as well as the challenges and issues everybody needs to be aware of when using social to find either a job or an employee.

Panelists:

* Bill Boorman, Founder of #Truevents

@BillBoorman is the person behind the #tru brand and a serial conversationalist, whether it is in person or on-line. I have views to share and enjoy nothing more than talking, listening and learning on and off line.

I have worked in and around recruiting for 27 years as a Recruiter, Temps Consultant, Manager, Operations Director and Training/HR Director. (12.5 years.) I started consulting and training recruitment firms in 2005, and have been doing that since.

* Becky Folb, Global Talent Acquisition Manager (Digital Marketing), Nokia

Becky is the Global Talent Acquisition Manager (Digital Marketing) for Nokia and is responsible for the strategy and methodology of how Nokia secure the best Digital Marketing talent on an international basis. Becky possesses 7 years recruitment experience, specialising in Digital Marketing Recruitment for the last 3 years.

Prior to joining Nokia, Becky worked for the Marketing and Communications Agency Major Players; where she managed the Digital Marketing desk. Nokia is the world’s number one mobility company, connecting more than 1.3 billion people every day, from mobile phones to advanced smart phones and high-performance mobile computers. "Connecting People” is at the heart of the Nokia brand which has now become one of the most trusted and valued global brands, encapsulating the essence of good mobile communications.

* Marc Mapes, Director, HireMatch.Me

Marc Mapes is an American living in London launching a startup online recruitment alternative, HireMatch.me. He has over 20 years of experience in the marketing communications field. After spending a year searching for a job using every available job search method, he decided to stop complaining about the lack of a candidate focused recruitment option and set out to do something about it.

Together with his business partner, OraRuth Rother, and their team they have developed www.hirematch.me which is currently in public beta. Online match-making websites offer to find you the partner of your dreams; the compatible one with the right personality for a long term relationship. Their employment match-making system does the same thing with jobs and jobseekers. Except, instead of finding you the partner of your dreams, HireMatch finds you your dream job (or candidate) using, in part, the science of assessment. The result is a fit determined by more than words on paper. This extra dimension matching method decreases subjectivity and human bias whilst increasing the odds of a long term work relationship for both parties.

* Emmanuel Aharoni, Human Resources Development Consultant

Emmanuel Aharoni qualified as a Chartered Accountant. In the late 1970's he deliberately moved into the field of Human Resources - people. He is a member of the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development.

He has worked in engineering, brewing, steel trading and house building.

As an independent consultant for 20 years he has carried out assignments in engineering, manufacturing, retail, construction, financial services, petrochemicals, computers, telecommunications, consultancy, transport, the NHS, several types of partnerships and even a health farm.

* Andy Headworth, Managing Director, Sirona Consulting Ltd

Andy Headworth (@andyheadworth) is the Managing Director of Sirona Consulting Limited (www.sironaconsulting.com), a specialist consultancy that has extensive experience within the recruitment industry. He helps and advises companies on social recruiting, recruitment strategy, recruitment process and online recruitment.

Andy has successfully delivered recruitment projects and campaigns over the last two decades for many companies in the UK, Europe, Middle East and the US. He is a huge social recruiting advocate, and as one of the UK’s top recruitment bloggers (www.sironasays.com) , he always has something interesting (and sometimes controversial) to say on the subject of social recruiting!
