RCEuro is continuing its series of conversations with Recruitment Thought Leaders. This series will be comprised of 10 minute video (or sometimes audio only) conversations between RCEuro founder Alan Whitford and the interview subject. We have a few 'in the can', with more scheduled.

We met Doug Shaw at the HRUnconference in London in October. He is not and "HR guy", but a "People guy" (my description). Doug runs What Goes Around Limited, a company which uses a number of innovative and proven engagement techniques to help organisations improve financial and business performance and customer service. Doug has over 12 years of experience of sales, sustainability, employee engagement and change management at senior management and director level within a global business.
He uses this experience and his enthusiasm for people to create dialogue and solutions to match clients’ exact needs. What Goes Around works with a number of trusted associates to ensure the relevant expertise is always available to deliver great results.
He chairs a global advice forum focusing on service, leadership and engagement, and he speaks publicly and to groups of staff about how to link these powerful things together. Put simply, his life has been built around two guiding principles; he does what he says he will and he makes things happen.

I am an IT Recruitment Consultant myself and have found the metmoncs above to be an interesting read but also very true about some agents which then gives the ones that work hard to learn their market a bad name.Unlike myself, the vast majority of agents and consultants do not work niche verticals and thus do not have the technical knowledge required. I personally only recruit for Developers mainly focusing in Java/J2EE though we have specialists in my company that cover all developments languages being used to date. This helps us to recruit efficiently for our clients and maintain strong relationships. So please be nice, as some of us do take our jobs seriously and have proven reputations If you would like to find out any more information please contact me on
